Several Dubai schools have begun informing parents of a tuition fee increase for the 2023-24 academic year, while others have announced their fees will remain unchanged. Indian curriculum schools, whose academic year starts in April, have already sent notifications to parents, whereas schools following other curriculums will do so later.

The Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) previously announced that Private Schools can increase tuition fees by 3% for the 2023-24 academic year, with some schools permitted to raise fees by up to 6% if specific criteria are met.

Gems Our Own Indian School and Our Own High School Al Warqa have both notified parents of tuition fee increases in line with the KHDA directive. Both schools emphasize that the increase will enable them to invest further in their teachers, who are crucial to providing quality education.

In contrast, the Indian High Group of Schools (IHS) has announced it will not raise tuition fees for the 2023-24 academic year, despite approval from the KHDA. The IHS management has chosen to maintain current fees to support parents facing financial challenges and to ensure continued access to world-class learning without added financial pressure.

Parents of IHS students have praised the decision, expressing gratitude that the school has considered their financial situations amidst rising living costs and the ongoing economic impact of Covid-19.

Over the past three years, Dubai has seen the opening of 22 new schools, bringing the total number of private schools in the city to 216.
