Approximately 77 vehicles from various brands and models, seized by the government and banks in the UAE, were placed on auction with prices spanning from Dh8,500 to Dh340,000. The highest-priced vehicle sold at this auction was a 2022 Land Rover Defender, fetching Dh340,000, while a 2011 Toyota Camry and a 2014 JAC J5 were both sold for Dh8,500. This auction was hosted by Emirates Auction, a public and online auction company, and attracted over 300 bidders, including individual consumers, businesses, and dealers.

All UAE residents who are at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license can participate in these auctions.

Government authorities can seize abandoned vehicles, while banks have the authority to take possession of vehicles due to non-payment of auto loans, whether by individuals or companies.

Omar Matar Almannaei, the executive director of Emirates Auction, mentioned that they typically auction off 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles each month. The highest amount ever achieved at one of their auctions was Dh4 million, which was for a classic 1971 Ferrari three years ago. Almannaei noted that auction prices are often higher than market rates because of the competitive bidding, with international bidders contributing to higher prices. Many of the exported vehicles, including SUVs going to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as classic cars going to Europe and collectors, tend to command higher prices. Some vehicles are also exported to South Korea and Japan, further increasing their value.

Almannaei also mentioned that participants from Europe and other regions frequently engage in these auctions. He emphasized the transparency of the auction system, the thorough vehicle inspections, the convenience of online bidding from anywhere, buyer confidentiality, and post-sale services like document preparation and export as reasons for people to consider participating in these auctions.
