Al Tunaiji, based in Al Rams city to the north of Ras Al Khaimah, said he even had a chat with Trump.
"It is an honour to represent the UAE everywhere." These are the words from 23-year-old Lieutenant Ibrahim Essa Ali Al Tunaiji, a fresh graduate of the US Naval Academy.

Lt Al Tunaiji is the only Emirati among the 4,000 graduates of the academy this year.

He said he is proud of his graduation from this top college and being honoured by US President Donald Trump. "I have a BSc degree as an engineer in systems and management," he explained.

Al Tunaiji, based in Al Rams city to the north of Ras Al Khaimah, said he even had a chat with Trump.

"I conveyed him the regards to the US people from the UAE people, and he returned the greetings to the UAE people.

"I wish to represent my country everywhere," said Lt Al Tunaiji, who is expected to return to the UAE early on Tuesday.

Lt-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, congratulated Al Tunaiji on his Twitter account, saying: "Congratulations to the distinguished son of the UAE, Ibrahim Essa Ali Al Tunaiji, who graduated from the US Naval Academy. We wish him success in serving our dear homeland."
Ibrahim Mohammed, an Emirati national of Al Rams area, said he and so many people from the city, emirate and country will receive Al Tunaiji on his return to the UAE. "He has done pretty well in his studies and deserves to be congratulated."

Abdullah Rashid, another Emirati, said honouring Al Tunaiji is an honour to the country. "Al Tunaiji has become a source of inspiration for young Emirati people, and will encourage many of them to follow his shiny example."
