The 15-year-old boy was born with only one kidney due to a genetic defect.
A kidney transplant from a donor, who is clinically dead, saved the life of 15-year-old Abdullah Al Amary, Al Khaleej newspaper reported on Sunday.
The surgery, which took almost four hours, made the father worried about his son's health condition, yet the medical teams of Sheikh khalifa Medical City (SEHA) have succeeded.
No side effects were noticed, the report added.
The father said Abdullah was born with only one kidney due to a genetic defect, and when he was 13, he had renal failure. After two years of searching for a suitable donor, they found a young man, who is clinically dead. Medical tests found that his kidney was suitable for Abdullah. After the surgery, Abdullah is back to his normal life and school, the father noted.
