Over the course of the last nine years since its launch on November 11, 2014, the Dubai Tram has facilitated approximately 52 million passengers and covered a distance of 5.3 million kilometers, as announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on a recent Saturday.

The RTA, sharing on the microblogging site X, highlighted their success in reducing tram journey times by two minutes through strategic rescheduling and adjustments in the trip timing system, consequently improving the tram's punctuality.

These improvements have transformed the tram into a more efficient, reliable, and secure mode of transport, making it an appealing choice for both residents and tourists, noted the RTA. They emphasized that such accomplishments underscore the seamless passenger transport and the elevated levels of user experience and satisfaction among tram commuters.

An essential component of Dubai's public transportation network, the 14.5km Dubai Tram spans along Al Sufouh Road, connecting Dubai Marina to Palm Jumeirah and Al Sufouh, seamlessly linking the Dubai Metro and The Palm Monorail. Serving vital areas like Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence, and Al Sufouh Road, it traverses through Dubai Media City, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Knowledge Park, significantly aiding in easing traffic congestion in these popular tourist zones.

According to the RTA, the Dubai Tram holds the distinction of being the first tramway project outside Europe powered by a ground-based electric supply system running along the track, eliminating the necessity for hanging cables (catenary).
