In southern India, an 'incident' has resulted in at least one fatality and critical injuries to two individuals, as disclosed by Kerala's state minister on Sunday. Local media outlets have described the event as a 'blast' that occurred at a Jehovah's Witnesses hall situated in Kalamassery, near the port city of Kochi in the state of Kerala.
The exact cause of this explosion in Kalamassery remains undisclosed. Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, informed the press, 'One person has lost their life, and two others are in critical condition, while additional individuals are currently hospitalized.' He added, 'We are in the process of gathering further details.'
The Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency reported multiple 'blasts,' numbering at least three, at a convention center in Kalamassery during a Sunday morning prayer meeting. However, the PTI did not provide any specific information regarding the cause of these incidents. Assistant Police Commissioner P.V. Baby, in conversation with AFP, confirmed the tragic death of one woman, and reported that five others sustained significant burns due to flames that erupted during a three-day prayer gathering attended by around 2,500 people.
