According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a total of 21 earthquakes with a magnitude above 4.0 have occurred in the country. Among them, a major 7.5 earthquake triggered a series of tsunami warnings.

The first tsunami waves, some exceeding a meter in height, reached the north coast of central Japan following the earthquake sequence.

Wajima port in Ishikawa prefecture experienced waves as high as 1.2 meters at 4:21 pm local time, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency. The affected areas include the Toyama, Ishikawa, and Niigata prefectures on the Sea of Japan side of Japan's main island of Honshu.
