Spiritual leaders like Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, and Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, have supported the call.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has responded to the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity's call to pray for humanity on May 14.

Taking to Twitter, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince told his 3.5 million followers that people everywhere will collectively join together in prayer for an end to coronavirus on May 14."Responding to the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity's call, they will be united against this challenge. However our efforts play out, we need God's grace and mercy," he tweeted.

The committee had on Sunday invited believers to make May 14 "a day for fasting, prayers, and supplications for the good of all humanity".

"Each one, from wherever they are and according to the teachings of their religion, faith, or sect, should appeal to God to lift this pandemic off us and the entire world, to rescue us all from this adversity," said the committee.

Spiritual leaders like Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, and Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, have supported the call.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also expressed his support for the global initiative, saying the world "must stand together for peace, humanity & solidarity".
