As many as 44 flights were cancelled at Dubai International on Monday due to bad weather for the second straight day.

The spokesperson for Dubai Airports said in a statement that 44 flights were cancelled between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, while 12 flights that had been diverted to Dubai World Central (DWC) and other neighboring airports have since returned to DXB or their respective bases.

After almost two days of disruption, operations were slowly returning to normal.

Emirates and flydubai confirmed delays and cancellations due to the dust storm in Dubai.

The adverse weather in Dubai has caused some of our flights to be delayed or canceled. Check the status of your flight before heading to the airport," flydubai wrote on Facebook.

The 'manage booking' section on flydubai's website allows passengers to rebook on another flight or arrange for a refund if a flight is cancelled. "Our teams are working hard to make sure you reach your goals."

Some Emirates flights arriving and departing at Dubai International may be disrupted by sandstorms and heavy dust on August 15. In order to receive notifications, Emirates encourages customers to check their flight status on emirates.com via the "manage my booking" tab, and to ensure their contact information is updated.

The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised." Emirates apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

Air Arabia, based in Sharjah, did not respond to a request for comment immediately. According to Flightaware, an aircraft tracking website, the airline's UAE hub - Sharjah airport - has seen seven flight cancellations over the past 24 hours.

Etihad Airways' flights are running according to schedule. Despite the adverse weather in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways flights are operating as scheduled with no delays or disruptions.

"Our teams are closely monitoring the weather conditions," Etihad said.

It is possible that some delays will occur on Monday for Air India, which reported some late departures on Sunday. Sunday evening, parts of the UAE were hit by heavy rain. Many UAE roads were affected by dusty weather today, reducing horizontal visibility.
