As of Monday, January 24, 2022, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee has allowed a gradual return to in-classroom learning for students in public and private schools, universities, colleges, and training institutes throughout the emirate.

The committee also approved protocols for returning to schools and indicated that existing precautionary measures will remain in effect to protect the health and safety of educators.

On the first day back to school, students must take a negative PCR test within 96 hours, and then every two weeks after that. To gain access to educational institutions, parents must present a negative PCR test within the previous 96 hours.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) provided the news during its weekly media briefing on Wednesday.

The first group, which comprises kindergarten and grade 1-5 students, as well as students in grades 12 and 13 who follow the UK curriculum, will begin in-person study on January 24.

From January 31, students in the remaining grades and those following other educational curricula will return to in-person learning.

School trips will be halted until further notice, although in-school sports and cultural activities will continue as planned.

Institutions of higher learning

Higher education institutions are included in the first group, with the green pass system in place to safeguard everyone's health and safety.

From January 31, students in the remaining grades and those following other educational curricula will return to in-person learning.

According to Hazza Al Mansouri, the official spokeswoman for the UAE Education Sector, "the decision was issued following close monitoring of the pandemic to ease the safe return of students, teachers, and administrative personnel to educational facilities and preserve their health and safety."

The UAE health sector's efforts to provide a healthy and preventive environment for community members are continuing. "Since the start of the pandemic, the UAE has established an adaptable and well-researched strategy for dealing with COVID-19. The efforts of the government and private organisations to provide a healthy and preventive environment for community members continue "The UAE Health Sector's official spokeswoman stated.
