UAE's Media Regulatory Office has decided not to screen Disney-Pixar's film Lightyear in cinemas. Regulators said the movie was illegal because of its violations of the country's media content standards.

16 June was the release date for the movie.

The regulator explained that all films shown in cinemas throughout the country must be assess prior to being shown to the public to ensure that the circulated material is appropriate for the people.

The first computer animated movie franchise, Toy Story was the first to catapult Disney and Pixar into superstardom with its fifth installment, Lightyear. Buzz Lightyear, the hero explorer of the film, embarks on a journey with his robotic companion after being marooned on a planet.
