On May 16, 2022, the Federal Authority of Identity,Citizenship, and Customs & Port Security (ICP) will suspend separate Emirates ID issuance/renewal services for all categories of citizens excludingDubai.

The single method services will be utilized in applications or requests for residence and ID issue or renewal, according to the government.

Authorities highlighted that separate residency services(issue/renewal) will be offered only to individuals who have a separate ID request in the works, and that the services will only be available for alimited time in the account.

The authority had previously declared that the issuing of residency stickers for foreigners resident in the UAE will be suspended as of April 11, 2022. The purpose is to improve client satisfaction by expanding theservices offered.

The Emirates ID card, which is issued to foreign residents in the UAE, may now be used to confirm their residency.

The authority also stated that its smart application allows users to request an electronic copy of their identity card in order to enhanceflexibility of usage.

Authorities highlighted that the new generation of the Emirates ID card issued to foreigners residing in the UAE includes all of the details previously mentioned in the residence sticker, enhancing the added value for the ID card's uses in proving personal identity of individualsthrough the presence of personal and professional data, the issuing entity, and other readable data on the card's surface, as well as the implicit details enhanced through electronic linking.
