Private sector workers in the UAE will enjoy paid public holidays on December 2 and 3 to celebrate National Day. Since these dates fall over the Saturday-Sunday weekend, there won't be an extended break.

Unlike the previous year, where both private and public sector employees had an additional day off on December 1 for Commemoration Day (formerly Martyrs' Day), creating a three-day break, this year is different. December 1 falls on a Friday, making it a working day.

However, residents can still look forward to a three-day break to conclude 2023 and welcome the new year. January 1, 2024, is a Monday and a paid holiday. Combined with the regular Saturday-Sunday weekend, this provides a three-day break to kick off 2024.

Celebrated on December 2 each year, National Day, also known as UAE Union Day, marks the unification of the Emirates in 1971. This year, the country commemorates its 52nd National Day. The official Union Day show, narrating the country's sustainability story, will take place at Expo City Dubai.
