The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Tuesday reported 3,236 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 3,634 recoveries and 14 deaths.
The new cases were detected through 193,163 additional tests.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 16 are 355,131 while total recoveries stand at 340,365. The death toll rises to 1,041.

The UAE has conducted over 28.4 million tests till date as part of the country's massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19While daily Covid infections have been on the rise around the world, India’s dramatic fall in cases has left experts stumped. At its peak, the country was reporting nearly 100,000 cases a day.

However, numbers began to plummet in September, and now the country is reporting about 11,000 new cases a day, leaving experts perplexed. The strain on the country’s hospitals has also declined in recent weeks, a further indication the virus’s spread is slowing.

Meanwhile, Dubai reported a total of 32 food establishments have been ordered temporarily closed since the beginning of this year for Covid safety violations.

Doctors in the UAE are urging residents to examine their lifestyles, after a study identified poor lifestyles as a key Covid risk factor. Obesity, in particular, must be addressed, they said.

The study found that obese people who contracted Covid were 113 per cent more likely to land in hospital than people of healthy weight.
