Thirteen new drive-through Covid-19 testing centres have opened across the UAE, it was announced on Thursday, following the success of the first facility at Zayed Sports City.

The facilities are staffed by 630 qualified medical, nursing, technical and administrative workers who have been trained to test drive-through patients in less than five minutes.

It came after the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide reached approximately 1.5 million on Thursday. The virus has now claimed more than 88,500 lives around the world, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker. So far, more than 320,000 people have made full recoveries.
