On Thursday, the United Arab Emirates awoke to dense fog shrouding various roadways, primarily in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Due to reduced visibility, meteorological authorities issued red and yellow alerts in specific areas.
As early as 4 am, the National Centre of Meteorology issued a fog advisory, indicating that these conditions were anticipated to persist until 9 am. The affected areas included Dubai's Al Minhad, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Al Lisali, as well as Abu Dhabi's Al Ajban, Sweihan, and Seih Shuaib. To ensure safety, speed limits were lowered on select roads in Abu Dhabi, with local police urging drivers to remain attentive to changes displayed on information boards. For instance, on the Trucks Road (Sieh Shuaib - Al Faqa) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Kizad - Seih Alsedirah) in Abu Dhabi, motorists were advised to maintain a speed of 80 km/h amid the foggy conditions.
Looking ahead, the UAE can generally anticipate a fair to partly cloudy day, with the potential for rain clouds to develop in the east by the afternoon, according to the NCM's forecast. The wind is expected to be gentle, and humidity is projected to increase during the night. Today's temperatures are higher, reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius in some areas of Abu Dhabi and 35 degrees in Dubai.
