Attempting to depart from the Philippines, a Filipino woman informed immigration authorities of her intent: to visit her husband in Oman. However, astute airport officers promptly uncovered the fact that there was no such man waiting for her.

Subsequently, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) disclosed that all the documents the woman had presented were counterfeit. She acknowledged the fraudulent nature of the papers, ranging from the fabricated marriage certificate to the fictitious affidavit of support purportedly provided by her non-existent husband. She even disclosed that she had paid Php30,000 (approximately Dh2,140) for these deceptive documents. To bolster her false narrative, a wedding photograph had been digitally manipulated. This woman had apparently been recruited for a presumed job through illicit channels, explaining that she had opted for these unlawful services after witnessing the purported success stories of the agents' clients, as reported by local media.

This was not the woman's initial attempt to leave the country, as per the BI. A mere month prior, she had been en route to Malaysia but was similarly prevented from boarding due to her inadequate documentation.

In light of the ongoing issue of illegal recruitment in the Philippines, the immigration authority reiterated its plea for Filipino citizens to exercise vigilance and exclusively rely on licensed agencies when contemplating employment abroad.
