Dubai: A jobless man has been jailed for three months for stealing a gold pendant and a cap from a worker at knifepoint.
The 32-year-old Sri Lankan worker was riding his motorcycle to a nearby grocery shop when he noticed that another motorbike was chasing him in Al Nahda 2 in February.

Once the worker felt that someone from the other motorbike had taken his cap, he chased the other motorbike to retain his hat.
The worker was then stabbed with a knife and his pendant was snatched by a 19-year-old Pakistani man, who rode the other motorbike, and others who sat behind him.
The Sri Lankan called the police who apprehended 19-year-old defendant, two Pakistani boys aged 14, and a 12-year-old Emirati schoolboy for their involvement.

On Wednesday, the Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the older accused for stealing at knifepoint.
The three teenagers are being tried for theft before the Dubai Juveniles Court.
Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi said the defendant, who pleaded not guilty, will be deported after serving his punishment.
The Sri Lankan victim said that the incident happened while he was going to the store on his motorcycle.
“A number of persons were on the other motorbike and chased me for a distance then took my cap. Then when I chased them, they stabbed me with a knife and stole my pendant,” he said.
A police sergeant said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the three boys and the defendant.
“During questioning, they admitted that they attacked the worker with a knife and stole his cap and pendant,” said the sergeant.
The primary ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
