Authorities say a 32-year-old Filipino lady was discovered dead in a suitcase left under the Palm Island Bridge in Deira.

A South Asian guy, thought to be her boyfriend, confessed to the murder, saying he killed her with a piece of fabric following a heated an argument about money, according to investigations.

On March 6, a security guard discovered the suitcase and promptly alerted his employer, who then contacted the police.

Officers who arrived on the site opened the suitcase and discovered the Filipina's body, identified as Annalisa RL. According to the police investigation, she was on a visit visa and lived in a flat with a man who was thought to be her boyfriend.

The man who was the key suspect in the murder, identified as MNA was apprehended by Dubai Police's CID personnel. He was apprehended in a Hor Al Anz apartment.

During the interrogation, the accused admitted to having a 'illicit affair' with the victim for four months, during which time she shared a room with him.

She had borrowed Dh600 from him once to renew her visit visa. When she begged for additional money, he refused, resulting in a heated argument. MNA found a piece of cloth and strangled her as she collapsed on the
floor in the middle of the struggle. He stuffed her body inside a suitcase and hauled it outside for 40 minutes until he came across the bridge. He threw the bag there in the hopes that no one would see it.

The matter has now been transferred to the Office of the Public Prosecutor.
