In a new warning, the Abu Dhabi Police urges motorists not to use tyres that are outdated or expired.
Abu Dhabi Police issued a public service announcement reminding motorists that unfit tyres could subject them to a 500AED fine, four black points, and 1 week of vehicle impoundment.
In addition, the police warned that unfit tyres are even more dangerous during the summer as temperatures can reach up to 50 °C.
According to Abu Dhabi Police, from January to June 2019, seven traffic accidents were caused by exploding tyres that killed two people, injured eight moderately, and injured four others slightly.
Over the same period of time, Abu Dhabi fined and seized 5,376 vehicles that had expired tyred or damaged
Motorists were advised to check the air pressure in their cars, examine their tyres regularly, and undergo a vehicle renewal test.
A damaged or cracked road may result in serious traffic accidents, which may lead to severe injuries and even death, warned Abu Dhabi Police.
