Gone are the days of panicking when realizing you've left your driving licence behind while heading to Sheikh Zayed Road. Thanks to the latest innovation from Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), residents can now conveniently store their driving licences in digital form, easily accessible through their Apple wallets. Discover how this new feature simplifies license management and provides a reliable backup option for motorists in Dubai.

The RTA in Dubai is reminding residents that they have the option to add their driving licences to their Apple wallets, eliminating the need for physical cards. While many motorists in the city already store a photo of their licence on their smartphones or keep a digital copy in their files, the introduction of the digital card offers even greater convenience and accessibility. This feature serves as a reliable backup solution to ensure that motorists are always prepared, even if their physical cards are misplaced.

By adding the digital driving licence to their iPhone wallets, motorists can enjoy effortless access with just a double-click of the side button. Opening the e-wallet reveals the licence as part of their digital card collection, providing a seamless experience. With this user-friendly solution, residents can easily present their digital licence when required, avoiding any unnecessary hassle or concerns about leaving the physical card behind.

Here's how licences can be added to this iPhone feature:

1. Download and open the RTA app.

2. When you're using the app for the first time, you'll have to set up your account and link your traffic files (driving licence or vehicle licence) into the app.

3. At the bottom part of the app's home page, you'll find five buttons/icons at the bottom of the home page, choose "My Docs"

4. Then open the "My License" tab, where you'll find a digital version of the card.

5. Below the card, there's a prominent button that says "Add to Apple Wallet". Click that option and you'll automatically find your licence in your e-wallet.

Besides the driving licence, you can also do the same thing with your vehicle licence. This feature, however, is available only for Apple users at the moment.
