The moment one decides to purchase a car, one regrets the choice because one must find the right place for parking the car while on the other hand, one has to wait in line to park the car. However, when there is no space left in the parking lot or there is no place to park, it becomes more frustrating. This leads to more problems. This is why people consider parking hassles more important than convenience.

Parking spaces are essential for cities. Residents and visitors need enough parking spots in a city for their cars. Since cars play an important role in transportation, the city needs to meet the needs of drivers.

Having the parking system explained in this article will ensure that you don't regret buying a car as a result of having a lot of trouble finding parking spaces when you go out. In addition, the article explains what type of parking is acceptable and where. 

There are detailed parking rules and regulations in the UAE, which can result in heavy fines if violated. The city of Dubai has different parking zones, namely Zones A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, and K. Each of these parking areas is divided into three categories: commercial, non-commercial, and special.

Parking in Dubai is categorized into three categories:

1. The commercial zone (Zones A & B)

3. Non-commercial Zone

4. Special Areas Zone

ZONE A

Commercial parking is allowed in zones A and B. Roadside parking is permitted in Zone A in Dubai's designated commercial districts. You won't need a parking card for Zone A. Parking fees per hour are illustrated here if you park your car for a long period of time. 

Parking Charges: 

-For 1/2 an hour: AED 2 
-For 1 hour: AED 4 
-For 2 hours: AED 8 
-For 3 hours: AED 12
-For 4 hours: AED 16

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE B

Commercial zone parking lots are classified as zone B parking. Compared to Zone A, parking in Zone B is less crowded and cheaper.

Parking Charges: 

-For 1 hours: AED 3
-For 2 hours: AED 6 
-For 3 hours: AED 9
-For 4 hours: AED 12 
-For 5 hours: AED 15
-For 14 hours: AED 20 

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE C

This zone refers to non-commercial parking. Residential parking in Zone C is found along the roadside. Dubai has already installed signboards in all parking lots to help drivers find their zones.

Parking Charges: 

-For 1 hours: AED 2
-For 2 hours: AED 5
-For 3 hours: AED 8
-For 4 hours: AED 11

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE D

Non-commercial parking lots are also classified as Zone D. These are the cheapest parking areas. Zone D consists of residential neighborhoods including Al Qusais and Al Nahda.

Parking Charges:

-For 1 hours: AED 2
-For 2 hours: AED 4
-For 3 hours: AED 5
-For 4 hours: AED 7
-For 14 hours: AED 10 

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE E

Special parking spaces can be found in Zone E. This zone includes the public and underground parking lots near the Waterfront Market, formerly known as the Deira Fish Market. Parking in the underground lot is free.  

Parking Charges:

-For 1 hour: AED 4
-For 2 hours: AED 8
-For 3 hours: AED 12  
-FOr 4 hours: AED 16

Time: 8:00 am to 11:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE F

For all Tecom areas, this is the dedicated parking lot. 

Parking Charges:

-For 1 hour: AED 2  
-For 2 hours: AED 5
-For 3 hours: AED 8
-For 4 hours: AED 11

Time: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

ZONE G

All paid parking areas in Downtown Dubai are included in this. 

Parking Charges:

-For 1 hour: AED 4
-For 2 hours: AED 8
-For 3 hours: AED 12
-For 4 hours: AED 16 

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan:  8:00 am to 6:00 pm

ZONE H

The parking lots in Dubai Silicon Oasis are included in this.

Parking Charges:

-For ½ an hour: AED 2
-For 1 hour: AED 4 
-For 2 hours: AED 8 
-For 3 hours: AED 12
-For 4 hours: AED 16 

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan:  8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE I

RTA introduced three parking codes in JLT Zone I, J and K. The zone I code is designated as "prime parking" and offers three hours of maximum parking. 

Parking Charges:

-For 1 hour: AED 10
-For 2 hours: AED 20 
-For 3 hours: AED 30

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan:  8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE J

For parking in Zone J in JLT, a short stay is allowed for up to three hours.

Parking Charges:

-For ½ an hour: AED 2
-For 1 hour: AED 4.3
-For 2 hours: AED 8.3
-For 3 hours: AED 12.3 

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

ZONE K

As with Zone K, the parking lots assigned to vehicles are only for short-term stays with a maximum of four hours.

-For 1/2 an hour: AED 2
-For 1 hour: AED 4
-For 2 hours: AED 8  
-For 3 hours: AED 12
-FOr 4 hours: AED 16

Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (No break between 1pm to 4pm like before).

Timings for Ramadan: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Note: Parking will be free at all Dubai parking zones on Fridays, other holidays, and during Iftar during Ramadan.

Categories Of Parking Area

Dubai has two categories of paid parking: category one and category two. Areas A and B belong to category one. These areas include:

Deira: Abu Hail, Hor Al Anz, Al Baraha, Al Muteena, Al Khabaisi, Al Muraqabat, Rigga Al Buteen, Port Saeed, Al Rigga, Naif, Ayal Nasir, Deira Fish Market, Al Ras, and Al Buteen.

Bur Dubai: The following parking areas in Bur Dubai are available for parking, including Al Shindagha, Al Souq Al Kabeer, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair 1,2, Oud Metha, Al Karama, Al Mankhool, Al Raffa, Al Hudaiba, Al Kifaf, 2nd December street, and Interchange One on Shaikh Zayed Road.

Jumeirah: The Jumeirah Beach Residence and the JBR Walk at 308th Street and Al Saada Street, parallel with Shaikh Zayed Road between Dubai World Trade Center and Interchange One.

In Dubai, all zones that don't come under category one are categorized as Category two.

How to Pay Parking Charges in Dubai

There are various You can pay your parking charges with RTA Dubai or Dubai Drive application. Simply download the app, register your vehicle, and follow the instructions to pay your parking fee.ways to pay for parking in Dubai:

1. mParking: For Dubai, send an SMS to 7275 (PARK) with the following format: [Plate Number] [Space][Zone Number] [Space][Duration].  

For an extra charge of 30 fils per SMS, motorists can receive hourly reminders of their parking tickets. Payment is deducted directly from the phone balance. Make sure you have enough credit on your phone. When using the mParking system, AED 0.30 will be deducted from your phone balance. Contact RTA customer service at 800-9090 if you don't get a confirmation within 5 minutes after making the payment.

2. Using a paid parking machine: Ticket machines near parking lots accept coins for parking tickets. Parking tickets cost AED 1 and 50 fils. Place the ticket visibly on your dashboard once you receive it.

3. Prepaid cards: Prepaid parking cards can be found at grocery stores and supermarkets. To use them, simply insert the card when you park. The parking fee for that zone will be deducted. You can purchase the cards in denominations of AED 30, AED 50, and AED 100.

4. Seasonal parking cards: Seasonal parking cards come in a variety of values and validity periods. There are three categories: A, B, and T. These come with three-month, six-month, and annual validity.

5. NoI Cards: Parking tickets can be purchased with a Nol card. The amount is deducted from the card.

6. You can pay your parking charges with RTA Dubai or Dubai Drive application. Simply download the app, register your vehicle, and follow the instructions to pay your parking fee.

7. Bank cards with RFID: RTA Dubai provides RFID bank cards that can be used to pay parking fees. The RFID card needs to be charged and tapped on the parking fee payment device when you want to make a payment, and the balance will be deducted from the card.

8. Through NFC (Near Field Communication), the RTA has made it easy for smartphone owners to pay parking charges in Dubai. Paying for parking in Dubai is now easy and secure. RTA has placed numerous POS access points that you just need to tap on with your phone. The app is available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.  

9. Via Whatsapp: To pay for parking, you can send a WhatsApp message to RTA. Using Mahboub (RTA's chatbot) is very easy. All you have to do is send a WhatsApp message to 971588009090. The WhatsApp message should be composed as if it were a regular SMS to pay for parking in Dubai:

[Plate Number] [Space][Zone Number] [Space][Duration]

Using Whatsapp to pay even saves you from having to pay 30 fils per SMS.

Parking Fines in Dubai

Following is a list of traffic penalties in Dubai:

1. Parking tariff not paid or ticket not visible: AED 150

2. After parking time has expired: AED 100

3. Exceeding maximum parking hours AED 100

4. For obstructing or misusing a parking facility, the fine is AED 200

4. If the vehicle crosses the sidewalk or stand on its AED 200

5. Parking in forbidden areas will result in a fine of AED 200

6. If your car is parked without a number plate, you will be fined AED 1,000

7. Parking fines are imposed for unauthorised use of special needs parking, using an expired permit, AED 1,000

8. The penalty for parking in a reserved spot or without a permit is AED 1,000

9. Damage to parking ticket machines, zone plates, or parking areas will result in a fine of AED 1,000

10. It is illegal to park an umbrella over a motor vehicle without a permit. The fine is AED 1,000
