The Fujairah Criminal Court of Appeal has ordered a 25-year-old Asian man, convicted of premeditated murder, to be referred to hospital to check and decide on his mental health.Court records show that the suspect broke into the house of an Emirati man in Fujairah's Faseel area.

He used a big knife to stab the Emirati national's Arab wife, in her forties, to death. The suspect also stabbed the 11-year-old-son and nine-year-old daughter of the victim as well as their 29-year-old domestic helper.

The defendant fled in the victim's car, and hid for some time. The CID sleuths of the Fujairah Police managed to track him down and arrested him.

The man was referred to the Fujairah Public Prosecution which charged him with premeditated murder and urged capital punishment for his "heinous" crimes.

The accused appeared at the Fujairah Criminal Court which found him guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced him to death.

The case was then moved to the higher court where the defence lawyer requested it to refer his client to a specialised hospital to decide on his mental health.

The court accepted the request and referred the defendant to the hospital to check on his mental and psychological health.
