Student Death Case: Appeals Court Upholds Jail Term For School Bus Driver

The Ajman First Court of Appeal has upheld a sentence against the driver of a school bus that killed a student. Sheikha Hassan.
In addition to the six-month jail sentence, heirs of the deceased received Dh200,000 in blood money.
The deceased student was run over by the accused in Hamidiya, Ajman, on February 15, after she returned from school.
She had alighted from the school bus after school, walked in front of the bus after boarding, and was then run over by the bus after she had alighted. Her head was seriously injured and she died.
According to the prosecution records, the school bus driver did not follow traffic rules which caused the accident.
