Visa Validity
In general, visa validity refers to how long you're allowed to travel with a specific visa.
Once the visa is issued, you have 60 days to travel. The visa expires after 60 days. If you are unable to travel on the visa before the 60-day deadline, you can extend the validity of the visa through this service.
It happens sometimes that people have their visas issued, but cannot leave the country for whatever reason. In that case, they will only be required to pay a fee to extend the visa validity instead of having to apply for a new visa, which would be more expensive.
How Long Can the UAE Visit Visa Validity be Extended
A visitor with a valid visit visa can extend its validity for up to 60 days by using this service, while a person with a valid medical treatment visa or a student visa can extend it for up to 90 days by taking advantage of this service.
Who Can Apply for a UAE Visit Visa Extension
In order to use the new service, visa sponsors must register online with ICP. It should be noted that the new service from ICP is only available while the visa holder is still outside the UAE. Every tourist visa issued by ICP can be extended by 60 days through this single ICP service.
To apply for the service ‘extend entry permit’, the sponsor of the visa will have to approach ICP or its registered typing centre. However, you should ensure that if you are extending your visit visa, your passport is valid for at least six more months.
By using this one service, all tourist visas issued by ICP can be extended by 60 days.

Visa Extension Processing Time
When the application meets the requirements, an entry permit is issued within 48 hours and sent to the e-mail address registered with ICP.
