In the scheme, there are longer grace periods that can reach six months for staying in the country

New 5-year residency tracks have been announced by the UAE in order to attract talents, skilled professionals, freelancers, investors and entrepreneurs. After the residence permit has been cancelled or expired, the scheme offers longer grace periods up to six months to remain in the country.

UAE Green Visa Scheme for Skilled Employees

For skilled workers, this program offers a 5-year residency without sponsor or employer.

The applicants should have a valid employment contract, and be classified by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation as either first, second, or third occupational level.

Minimum educational requirements include a bachelor's or equivalent degree, and salary should not be less than Dh15,000.

UAE Green Visa Scheme for Freelancers, self-employed individuals

This track reflects the growing popularity of flexible work models, by providing five-year residency to freelancers and individuals who are self-employed in the UAE without the need for a sponsor or employer.

Freelancers and self-employed persons must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. A bachelor's degree or specialized diploma is the minimum educational requirement. In the last two years, the self-employment income should not have been less than Dh360,000.

UAE Green Visa Scheme for Investors or partners

In order to encourage investment, this residence has been introduced. The residence provides five years of residency for investors who establish or participate in commercial activities. Before, the residency was valid for only two years.

The investment must be approved and the proof of investment must be provided. When an investor (partner) has more than one license, the total invested capital will be calculated. The competent local authorities must approve the investment.
