The unified general labour regulations will enable public and private sector employers to adopt creative end-of-service schemes that increase their competitiveness in the labour market, confirmed a UAE Minister.

On Monday the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that the employees in the federal government and private sector will be equally entitled to the same gratuity under the new unified regulations. This will come into action from February 2, 2022.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said that the labour regulations will introduce diverse gratuity options for employers beyond the conventional scheme.

He clarified, “employers can, for instance, go for a savings scheme that empowers employees to invest in their gratuity from the date of joining until the end of their service.”

Minister confirmed that soon the details of the schemes will be announced.

He said that this move is an important part of the country’s broader goals to provide adaptability for employers in a competitive labour market, that meets the goals of abilities coming from everywhere in the world.
"Employers will have choices to pick to distinguish themselves in the market and attract global abilities and capabilities, supporting the UAE's economy on a worldwide map."

The additional gratuity plans are likewise pointed toward fitting employees working in the work models presented in the labour law last month including temporary, flexible and part-time.

The ministry declared on Monday general guidelines to bring together the working systems of the general public and private sectors to set up a coordinated, proficient and sustainable labour market that gives similar privileges to employees all over the country.

As per the conventional gratuity scheme, full-time private sectors and national government employees will similarly be entitled to the gratuity of 21 days' basic salary for each year of work for the first five years of employment.
