Traffic fines have been imposed by Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) on motorists and commuters for violations.
July 1, 2019 brought updated traffic rules outlining violations including stopping at a red light, child safety in cars, window tinting, speeding, swarming around accident sites, and more. Parents must pay AED 400 in case their children under the age of four do not wear a car seat belt. In addition, motorists found to be transporting inflammable materials without a license may be fined up to AED 3,000 and given 24 black points.

Salik fines in Dubai:
Dubai uses an electronic toll road system called Salik. Each Salik Passing will cost you AED 5.25 (including tax). A "Salik tag" is fitted to all vehicles to ensure that when passing through the Salik checkpoint, they are registered, and tolls are charged to the "Salik tag".
Salik Violation Description and Fines:
1. Not enough funds in the Salik account: AED 50 (for each day after the five day grace period, and the driver may violate the rule once per day if he or she passes the checkpoints multiple times)
2. A vehicle that does not have a Salik tag:
-AED 100 on the first journey (after the 10-working day grace period)
-AED 200 on the second journey (after the 10-working day grace period)
-In addition to the third trip, all subsequent trips will be charged AED 400 (after the 10-working day grace period).
Parking fines in Dubai:
1. Ticket not visible, or parking tariff unpaid: AED 150
2. Parking time exceeded: AED 100
3. Maximum parking time exceeded: AED 100
4. Parking facilities obstructed or misused: 200 AED
5. Parking on the sidewalk or crossing it: AED 200
6. Using unauthorized parking: AED 200
7. Parking without a number plate: AED 1000
8. If you use special needs parking without a permit, or your permit has expired, or a permit is not visible clearly: AED 1000
9. Vehicle parked in a reserving area or without a permit: AED 1000
10. Demonstrations of cars for sale or rent in restricted areas: AED 1000
11. Installing a parking umbrella without a permit: AED 1000
12. Destroying a parking system, ticket machine, or zone plate: AED 1000
13. Removal of parking, ticket machines, or zone plates without a permit: AED 10000
Bus Fines in Dubai:
1. Public transport modes, services, and facilities taken for free; entering / existing fare zones without paying: AED 200
2. Fail to present the Nol Card upon request: AED 200
3. Use of a third party card: AED 200
4. Use of an expired card: AED 200
5. Use of an invalid card: AED 500
6. Use of a fake card: AED 200
7. Sale of Nol cards without prior permission from the RTA: AED 500
8. Taking advantage of the public transport mode by destroying, sabotaging, or tampering with its systems, tools, or seats: AED 200
9. Littering, spitting, or doing anything that might contaminate public transportation: AED 100
10. Inconveniencing users in any way of public transport: AED 200
11. Smoking inside public transportation facilities and services: AED 200
12. Weapons, sharp objects, and inflammables that are taken into public transport, facilities, or services: AED 200
13. Taking alcohol into public transport, premises, or services: AED 200
14. Advertising or promoting and selling goods and commodities through public transport means, facilities and services: AED 200
15. Opening the doors of public transportation or leaving them open while moving between stations or while parking: AED 100
16. Seating or entering reserved areas within public transportation. (ex. women's reserved seats): AED 100
17. If you carry or use anything which may endanger the safety of other passengers or annoy them: AED 100
18. Passengers sleeping in bus shelters and undesignated places: AED 300
19. Acting in a manner that may cause a public transport driver to lose attention or obstruct his vision: AED 200
20. If you stand or sit on part of a public transport mode, facility, or service that is not designated for passenger use: AED 100
21. Eating or drinking in restricted areas: AED 100
Tram Fines in Dubai:
1. Using public transportation facilities and relevant transport services, or entering or leaving fare zones without paying exact fares: AED 200
2. Failure to present a valid Unified Card: AED 200
3. Paying with a card designated for others: AED 200
4. Use of an expired card: AED 200
5. Use of an invalid card: 200 AED
6. Selling Unified Cards without prior permission from the Authority: 200 AED
7. Use of a counterfeit card: AED 500
8. Any act that disrupts or inconveniences public transport, public facilities, or other public services: AED 100
9. Sitting in areas reserved for certain categories: AED 100
10. Having food and drinks in prohibited areas: AED 100
11. Sleeping in passenger shelters or any other area where it is prohibited to sleep: AED 300
12. Intentionally damaging, vandalizing, or destroying public transport equipment or seats: 2000 AED
13. Parking in metro areas for longer than the permitted period: 100 AED per day & up to 1000 AED
14. If you enter restricted areas of a public transport and service facility, and violate warnings and signs posted there, you will be charged: AED 100.
15. Stand or sit in non-passenger areas within Public Transports and Public Transport Facilities and Services: AED 100
16. Putting your feet on the seat: AED 100
17. Promotion or sale of goods and commodities in public transport or public transport facilities: AED 200
18. Those who fail to comply with the directions of inspectors or authorised personnel of the Authority or obstruct the performance of their duties will be fined: AED 200
19. Use of public transportation and public transport facilities and services in contravention of signs posted by the Authority: AED 200
20. Pets in public transportation, except guide dogs for blind people: AED 100
21. Littering, spitting, or any other act that compromises the cleanliness of Public Transport and Public Transport Facilities and Services: AED 200

23. Passing through a red light without causing an accident: AED 5000
24. Creating an accident that results in bodily harm: AED 15000
25. Causing an accident that results in death: AED 30000

27. Climbing or jumping to board the public transport facilities and services: AED 100
28. Attempting to open the doors or get in or out of a Public Transport vehicle while it is going between stations or stops: AED 100
29. Transporting or using materials or equipment that will disrupt public transportation or public transportation facilities and services or endanger the safety of those using them: AED 100
30. Distracting or obstructing a driver of Public Transport Facilities and Services while he is driving: AED 200
31. Carrying alcohol inside public transport and public transportation facilities and services: AED 500
32. Bringing hazardous items, such as weapons, sharp tools, or inflammable materials, into public transportation and public transport facilities: AED 1000
33. Security or safety tools, including emergency exits without a need: AED 2000
