Get information about entry permit extensions and their requirements
The UAE requires an entry permit for anyone traveling there for business or tourism. There is, however, a time limit on every entry permit, and exceeding that limit can result in heavy fines. This problem can be avoided by extending your permit through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) to legally stay longer.
In a post on ICP's official social media channels on Monday, March 21, the organization informed entry permit holders on how to apply for an extension.
Extending your stay in the UAE requires you to submit an extension request via ICP's website - icp.gov.ae - or via a typing center.
Here is a detailed guide on the process, the requirements, and the cost of extending your entry permit.
It is necessary for the applicant to have a passport that is valid for at least six months in order to qualify for this service. During the extension process, you have the option of selecting either a 30-day extension or an extension for more than 30 days. Each extension has a different fee.
1. An extension of an entry permit for the period of 30 days:
a. Extending an entry permit (for tourism)
The extension period: 30 days (twice)
Documents required: passport copy
Note: A tourism company must apply for the extension of an entry permit.

The extension period: 90 days

b. Extending an entry permit for GCC country residents
The extension period: Extended for 60 days
Documents required: Passport Copy

c. Extending an entry permit for the purpose of study
The extension period: Extended for 90 days

How to apply for an extension through ICP Website:
1. You can extend your entry permit by visiting the 'Service page' of the ICP website.
2. Login using your UAE pass or ICP login details.
3. Click ‘Start Service’
4. You will need to fill out your personal information, including:
-Your full name
-Your birth date
-Your nationality
-Your address
-Your phone number
-Your email address
-and passport number
5. Select the reason for your visit to the UAE.
6. You will need to upload a copy of your passport.
7. Please click on submit to submit your payment and settle it electronically with your credit/debit card.
8. Once your request has been processed, you will receive a text message or email.
9. An email notification will be sent to you upon approval.
How long will it take?
Permits are issued by ICP electronically within 48 hours of receiving and accepting a service request.
How to apply for an extension through a typing centre:
According to the ICP, the steps for applying for an entry permit extension through a typing center are as follows:
1. You must visit an authorized typing center.
2. To extend an entry permit, submit a request with a service requirement attached.
3. You will need to pay the fee.
4. Once the application has been submitted, the employees at the typing center will review it.
5. After approval, you will receive an SMS or email with the form.
