The unfortunate incident took place as the family, who were residents of the UAE, was on their way back to Abu Dhabi after completing the sacred Umrah pilgrimage. Regrettably, their vehicle collided with another on the Makkah-Riyadh road, resulting in the devastating accident.
The individuals who lost their lives were of Jordanian nationality and had Palestinian roots. The father, identified as Malik Akram Khurma, was accompanied by his four children named Akram, Maya, Dana, and Dima.
Although the mother of the children survived the heart-wrenching crash, she was promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, her condition is reported to be stable despite the traumatic incident.
Local media accounts reveal that a compassionate group of Saudi citizens chose to stand by the grieving mother's side during her time at the hospital, extending their support and solace as she navigated through the immense loss of her husband and children.
In the collaborative efforts between the Jordanian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and local authorities, arrangements are being made to repatriate the bodies of the deceased back to their homeland.
