A pupil is believed to have fallen from a school balcony in Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning.

The girl, whose name and age have not been released, is said to have fallen from a height at the British School Al Khubairat. The extent of her injuries are not known.

The primary school pupil was taken to hospital in an ambulance, accompanied by her mother, according to eye-witnesses.

On Sunday, the school told The National they were "saddened by the incident" and said they were dealing with local authorities.

A spokesperson said they would not release further details out of respect for the pupil and her family.

Abu Dhabi Police was contacted for comment.
