Whether you're a seasoned expatriate or a first-time mover, mastering these steps is key to a stress-free relocation experience in the vibrant city of Dubai.

When relocating within Dubai, the process of transferring your electricity, water, TV, and internet services from your current residence to your new home is relatively straightforward. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved in ensuring a smooth transition.

Steps to Transfer Electricity and Water Supply in Dubai

Residents in Dubai can conveniently transfer their Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) connection from their previous residence to their new one using DEWA’s Move-to service.

This online platform also allows users to transfer the security deposit from the old property to the new address by entering the Ejari contract details.

To access this user-friendly service, simply visit DEWA’s official website at www.dewa.gov.ae, where you can create or log in to your DEWA account using UAE Pass. With just a few clicks, you can smoothly transfer your DEWA connection and security deposit, saving valuable time and effort, especially for frequent movers. By leveraging DEWA’s Move-to service, you can ensure a seamless transition of your electricity and water services to your new home without any delays.

To utilize the online service efficiently, you need to have the following details ready:

Your mobile number
An active email address
Your business partner number
The Ejari number and Premise number of your new property. You can locate these details on your recent tenancy contract.

How to Apply for DEWA's Move-to Service:

Visit the Dewa website - www.dewa.gov.ae, and click on the menu tab on the left of the screen. Then, click on 'Consumer' and under 'Supply management', click to select 'Transfer of Electricity/Water (Move-to)' service.

Click on 'Apply online' and log in using your UAE Pass or Dewa account details.

After logging in, you'll see details of your currently registered property. Next, you'll be prompted to input your move-out date (when you are moving out from your old premises) and mobile number. Next, click 'continue'

Afterward, you'll be directed to a form where your 'business partner' number may already be filled in; otherwise, you can locate it on your Dewa bill.

Then, choose 'tenant' as the customer type from the dropdown menu. Next, input the Ejari and Premise numbers from your new tenancy contract.

Click 'calculate' to check for outstanding dues and settle them through the 'Bill Payment' service if necessary and go back to the Dewa 'Move-to' application.

Finally, click 'submit' and pay service charges online with a credit/debit card. Upon payment, you'll receive confirmation via email and SMS.

Once approved, electricity and water supply for your new premises will activate upon security deposit transfer. Your old premises' supply will deactivate on your move-out date. Any outstanding bills will be transferred to your new account.

Total Cost for Using Dewa Move-to Service

AED 200 for activating and deactivating Electricity and Water (small meters).
AED 600 for activating and deactivating Electricity and Water (large meters).
AED 10 for registration.
AED 20 for the knowledge fee.
AED 20 for the Innovation fee.

How to Move Your Internet, TV, and Landline Connection in Dubai

When transferring your internet and TV connection, it's crucial to consider three key factors:

1. Location Shift: If you're moving to a different emirate or an area serviced by a different provider, you'll need to cancel your existing subscription and apply for a new one with either Etisalat or Du.

2. Equipment Transfer: Remember to bring along your wireless router, set-top box, and cables to your new location. Technicians will need these items for setting up your connection efficiently.

3. Timing Matters: Plan and request the transfer a few days in advance, or at least one day before your move. It typically takes 12 to 24 hours for your internet, TV, and landline services to become fully operational at the new address.

For Etisalat By e& Users

If you're currently using Etisalat's e& service, you have the flexibility to transfer your telephone, TV, and internet connection to another provider. You can initiate this transfer through multiple channels, including Etisalat's toll-free call center (101 or 8005800/ 800-9111), the 'My Etisalat' app (Download the My Etisalat app For Apple, Android, Huawei) or by visiting one of their Business Centres.

For a hassle-free transfer process, it's advisable to reach out to Etisalat's customer service representatives. They can provide personalized guidance and address any queries you might have. Additionally, the 'My Etisalat' app (Download the My Etisalat app For AppleAndroidHuawei) offers a user-friendly interface to manage your account efficiently and request any necessary changes with ease.

To relocate your existing eLife services to a new address, you need to apply for a service transfer rather than a new account setup.

Here's the information you'll need to furnish:

New residence location and address details
Move-out date for service disconnection and the installation date for your new home
Makani number specific to the new address.

Service Cost: The service incurs a fee of AED 150, excluding Value Added Tax (VAT).

For Du users, transferring your Du services is simple and can be done through two convenient channels:

Utilize the Du website at du.ae.
Access the Du app, compatible with Apple, Android.

Essential details and documents required for the transfer include:

A copy of the tenancy contract or title deed for property ownership verification.
Details of the new home's location and address.
Move-out and move-in dates.

Service Cost: Expect a moving fee of AED 100 on your subsequent bill.
