A fire that broke out in a house in Abu Dhabi killed six people. The UAE Capital’s Civil Defence said seven people sustained injuries in the blaze reported in the Muazzaz area. Two of the injured are in critical condition.
As soon as firefighters, paramedics, and police were alerted about the fire, they rushed to the scene. The blaze has been controlled.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, according to the authority. It urged residents to obtain official information and to avoid spreading rumours about the incident.
The civil defence offered condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
A massive fire ripped through the fourth floor of a residential building in Al Ras, Dubai, last month, killing 16 people and injuring nine.
Authorities in the UAE have launched several initiatives to ensure the safety of residents and properties. Earlier this month, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority launched a field survey to ensure safety measures in buildings and facilities. These facilities received smoke detectors and fire extinguishers as part of the drive.
A new project launched in April will see the facades of buildings clad in fire-resistant materials.
