Residents living in the UAE should replace or update their ID cards when they get married since some nationalities' wives' surnames change after marriage, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.

For updating the data in the ID card and in the Population Register Programme, the person concerned must visit the customer service center of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.

If an Emirati or Gulf citizen reaches 15 years of age, the Population Register Programme and ID card data must be updated within 30 days.

In order to do this, they must visit an ICP customer service center and submit a request for the son's fingerprints to be captured and all data that needs updating to be updated, the authority said.

UAE residents don't need to check with the ICP within a certain period of time after their children turn 15 because the update is done with the renewal of residency, according to the ICP.
