A new version of the AlHosn app has been launched by the UAE health authorities. The upgraded app includes comprehensive vaccination records for children from birth till they turn 18. According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the upgrade will play a pivotal role in achieving a higher percentage of child vaccination coverage nationwide.

As the official UAE app for contact tracing and health testing related to Covid-19, AlHosn is now the national vaccination platform.

MoHAP says the latest update provides families with a wide range of digital solutions for monitoring their children's vaccination status. The update also “guarantees users access to accurate and reliable information”, thanks to the collaborative efforts between MoHAP and local health authorities.

According to Dr Hussain Al Rand, assistant undersecretary for Public Health at MoHAP, the update is a "significant step forward" in the UAE's smart transformation journey. It will facilitate access to children's vaccination records as per the National Immunisation Programme.

The UAE government mandates vaccinations to children from the time they are born to the time they reach Grade 11. These include jabs against tuberculosis, hepatitis B, polio and tetanus, among others.

Vaccination is one of the most effective preventative measures against infectious diseases, according to the UAE government, which is committed to creating a variety of communication channels with community members to ensure optimal health coverage and high vaccination rates through smart technology and applications. Children's health and community immunity are strongly reinforced by vaccinations," Al Rand said.
