Several drivers in Dubai have been fined, and their vehicles confiscated for violating traffic safety regulations during National Day celebrations, as reported by the police on Saturday.
A total of 4,420 dangerous violations were documented, ranging from reckless driving and performing road stunts to unauthorized parades and disobeying police instructions. In response, 94 cars and motorcycles were impounded.
Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, stated, "The offenders will face stringent penalties under Decree 30 concerning vehicle impound, with fines reaching up to Dh50,000 for vehicle release." The majority of these violations occurred in Al Ruwayyah, Jumeirah, and various residential areas.
Incidents included disturbances at desert camps where some drivers played loud music from their car stereos and performed reckless stunts. Additionally, drivers obstructed traffic, and some were found with illegally modified vehicles and unlicensed engine changes, according to Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei.
Other offenses noted were overloading vehicles, sticking heads out of windows and sunroofs, using party spray, obscuring license plates, changing vehicle color, and tinting or coloring front windows.
Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei urged parents to monitor their youths' driving behaviors, emphasizing that parental supervision is crucial for promoting positive behaviors and reducing serious traffic accidents, fatalities, and severe injuries on the roads.
