A shooting incident at a mall rocked Thailand's capital on Tuesday, prompting an advisory from the UAE Embassy.

According to a post on platform X, all Emiratis present near the area were "safe and sound".

According to local authorities, one person was killed and six were injured in the incident. Hundreds of people fled the upmarket Siam Paragon mall in the heart of Bangkok as shots rang out around 4.30pm (0930 GMT), witnesses said.

A 14-year-old boy was detained by Thai police over the shooting. Dozens of emergency response vehicles could be seen outside one of the shopping centre's main entrances in the wake of the incident.

Local authorities have issued safety instructions to citizens of the city, according to the UAE Embassy.

In addition, Emiratis were urged to register for the Tawajodi service and to contact the emergency hotline 0097180024 as soon as possible.
