Dubai Police are set to introduce an innovative AI-powered system aimed at simplifying the process of reporting road accidents. This technology will also determine the party responsible for the accident, leading to a more efficient use of time and resources by law enforcement. According to data, this system is expected to reduce manual tasks and processes by up to 50%.
Unveiled at the Gitex technology week event, this new technology will soon be integrated into the Dubai Police app, offering accessibility to the general public. A spokesperson stated that it is nearing completion, with only minor issues left to address before it is made available to all Dubai residents.
The Gitex technology week, which commenced at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday, brought together over 6,000 companies to showcase cutting-edge technology and innovations.
Here's how the system functions: Drivers involved in accidents can easily report the incident by submitting data and photographs through the Dubai Police app. An AI-driven algorithm assesses fault and identifies the damaged areas based on the provided information. Subsequently, the system generates an accident report, enabling Dubai Police to issue red slips to those responsible for the accident and green slips to those not at fault.
According to a spokesperson, this AI-driven system will enhance law enforcement officers' understanding of accidents and their causes.
Previously, individuals involved in accidents had to wait for police personnel to arrive at the scene and determine fault. While it became more convenient for Dubai drivers to file accident reports using the app, disputes over fault still required a visit to the police station. Earlier this year, a new initiative called 'On The Go' was launched, allowing drivers to obtain accident reports at fuel stations and arrange immediate vehicle repairs.
