On Thursday morning, Dubai Police received a total of 2,841 emergency calls between 5 am and 10 am, prompted by low road visibility resulting from dense fog. Concurrently, authorities dealt with 51 traffic accidents.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasized the importance of motorists remaining vigilant about changing road-weather conditions, particularly during months when low visibility is more prevalent.
Motorists were strongly advised to exercise caution, adhere to safety rules, and reduce driving speeds in foggy and unstable weather. Additionally, cyclists and e-scooter riders were urged to consistently wear reflective jackets.
Due to the potential for fatalities, injuries, and material losses in fog-related accidents, authorities stressed the significance of maintaining a safe distance between vehicles.
To prevent hazardous traffic incidents, motorists were encouraged to regularly check weather forecasts from reliable sources and competent authorities.
Dubai Police issued the following safety guidelines for driving in fog:
1. Reduce speed.

2. Use vehicle lights during early morning hours.

3. Refrain from attempting to overtake another vehicle.

4. Change lanes only when necessary and always use indicators.

5. Avoid using high beams that could hinder other drivers' visibility.

6. Refrain from activating hazard lights while driving.

7. Maintain focus on the road.

8. Avoid blocking traffic in case of minor accidents.

9. Allocate extra time for journeys to mitigate stress caused by delays or traffic congestion.
