The crescent is highly likely to be seen in UAE today.
The first day of Zul Hijjah and the date for Eid Al Adha for most Islamic nations have been revealed.

According to a statement issued by the International Astronomy Center on Wednesday, most Islamic nations will sight the Zul Hijjah 1440 moon on Thursday (August 1). While the crescent will not be possible to sight in the east side of the Muslim world, it will be possible to sight it - using a telescope - in Arab countries, most of Africa and Southern Europe. The crescent can be seen with the naked eye in the West of Africa, the Atlantic Ocean and most parts of the Americas. Therefore, the month of Zul Hijjah is highly likely to begin on August 2, with the first day of Eid Al Adha on August 11 in most Islamic countries, said IAC's Engineer Mohammed Shawkat Odeh.

The attached map shows the possibility of sighting the Zul Hijjah crescent on Thursday:
- Non-coloured areas: The crescent will not be visible with telescope nor the naked eye.
- Blue: Crescent sighting is only possible using the telescope.
- Purple: The vision of the crescent is possible using a telescope and with the naked eye naked if the sky is clear.
- Green: The crescent can be seen with the naked eye in those areas.
