Emiratis in Oman have been advised to exercise extra caution due to unstable weather conditions in the country.

A statement issued by the embassy on Friday urged Emiratis to follow Omani safety instructions.

In case of emergency, Emiratis should call 0097180024.

A tropical depression has formed in the Arabian Sea, roughly 600km from Ras Al Hadd in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

The governorates of Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah, among others, are expected to receive rain.

According to the Directorate General of Meteorology: “Cumulus clouds are forming in parts of Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah governorates, with scattered rain and thunderstorms possible at times. There is a possibility of drizzle on the coast and mountains of Dhofar Governorate as clouds continue to flow over South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorate.”

At latitude 22.2 north and longitude 65.4 east, according to the latest satellite images and analysis from the National Center for Early Warning, the center of the tropical depression is located northeast of the Arabian Sea.
