On Saturday, it was announced that authorities are investigating the CEO of a private company for violating Emiratisation rules.

UAE Public Prosecution said the firm's CEO is being interrogated over an advertisement for an 'unskilled job' for Emiratis.

The public prosecution said the ad violated both Emiratisation regulations and media content standards due to its 'contentious content'.

The public prosecution claimed that the ad content violated Ministerial Resolution No. 279 of 2022 on Monitoring Mechanisms of Emiratisation Rates in the Private Sector.

Federal Prosecution for Countering Rumours and Cybercrimes is investigating the incident and interrogating the CEO about the allegations.

In addition to requesting that the investigation be completed as soon as possible, the Attorney-General also urged private businesses to adhere to the regulations outlined in Ministerial Resolution 279 when hiring Emiratis.

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) clarified that companies must hire Emiratis in skilled jobs to achieve Emiratisation targets.

It stressed that it closely monitors compliance with the rules and reviews the types of jobs offered to UAE citizens.

A number of companies found to have circumvented the law have been taken to immediate action by Mohre in the past few weeks.

The UAE Government's Nafis program will provide salary top-ups to Emirati job seekers regardless of the firms cutting their salaries. Additionally, an Emirati employer faces sanctions for appointing 43 family members to boost Emiratisation rates and benefit from Nafis.

Non-compliant companies that fail to hire Emiratis by January 2023 will be fined Dh72,000 for every unemployed Emirati.
