According to a new survey, nearly a third of UAE expats found a job on their own while 17 percent were recruited from abroad when they moved to the country.
In the survey conducted by InterNations, the world's largest expat community with over 4.8 million members, seven percent of expats say they moved to the Emirates to improve their quality of life.
Most of these seven percent are high-net-worth individuals or millionaires who have moved to the Emirates, which has been a magnet for rich people seeking safety, security, and high-quality education. The UAE has also offered them a place to truly enjoy their wealth.
Participants in the survey were asked to rate 56 different aspects of life abroad from one to seven.
The second best country for career prospects
Expats ranked the emirate second for career prospects, fourth for quality of life, and eighth for salary and job security in the survey.
UAE is the fourth most popular destination for expats to work abroad, sixth for work culture and satisfaction, and second for expat essentials.
According to the survey, the country ranked 11th out of 53 countries.
When it comes to leisure, the UAE is ranked sixth, thanks to the culinary variety and dining options that expats enjoy. A higher rating is given to the country in the category of culture and nightlife than to the global average.
While expats’ satisfaction with public transportation availability is just slightly above average, the infrastructure for cars comes in 1st place worldwide. More than nine in ten expats – 93 per cent – are pleased with this factor, compared to 75 per cent globally.
The UAE made it into the top 10 in both the safety and security (9th) and healthcare (10th) subcategories. Expats rate political stability and personal safety very positively.
