A fire on a yacht sent fumes billowing across Dubai Marina on Friday morning.

Fire crews tackled the blaze as plastic-smelling smoke drifted across the district.

Onlookers covered their faces as firefighters used tenders and a boat to douse the flames, which at one stage had completely engulfed the vessel.The boat was anchored at the southern end of the marina near the Sayorah Street bridge.

Workers in civilian clothes on a boat used a hose to help fire crews shortly before 9am.Smoke billowed when the water hoses hit, obscuring the vessel and crews and the Jumeirah Beach Residence side of the wharf.The northern marina walkway was still blocked by police and firefighters at 10am.In a statement, Emaar, the Dubai Marina developer, said there had been no injuries and that the boat had been taken to a secure location.
