In Dubai, it is necessary to register your child's birth in order to obtain their identification documents. If your child's birth certificate is lost while you're moving houses, outside, or damaged, what should you do? It can be stressful to lose such an important document, but you can apply for a new birth certificate through the Ministry of Health and Prevention's (MOHAP) official website. You can get a replacement certificate for a child born in the UAE, delivered right to your door. Exactly how? This is what we will explain to you.

Replace your lost birth certificate online at mohap.gov.ae, and it will be processed within 24 hours. You can choose to have it delivered to your home, or you can pick it up at a MOHAP public health centre.

Documents needed to replace a child's birth certificate:

1. A copy of a lost birth certificate

2. Mother and father's passport copies

3. A copy of the family book (for UAE citizens)

What is the procedure for replacing a birth certificate online?

The following steps can be followed in order to replace a birth certificate:

1. To begin the renewal process, go to: https://mohap.gov.ae/en/services/issue-of-a-replacement-for-lost-birth-certificate and click the ‘start service’ button.

2. Create an account with MOHAP or log in with your UAE Pass.

3. Upon logging in, click on ‘Birth Certificates’ in the left-hand corner of the website and click ‘Issue of a Replacement of lost birth certificate’.

4. In order to find out whether the birth certificate is in the MOHAP system, you must enter the QAID number, which is the birth notification number, and the date of birth of the mother or father. In the electronic birth notification you receive from the hospital, you will find the QAID number.

5. As soon as the system detects the record, MOHAP displays the following information:

-Name of the baby
-Name of father
-Name of mother
-Qaid number
-Date of birth
-Status – Those birth certificates in the MOHAP system will say 'certificate issued'.
-Hospital

6. Click the three dots in the right corner and then click 'add' if the information is correct. To edit, click on the three dots again, then click on 'Edit'. After clicking the edit button, you will be taken to the Birth certificate Lost/Replacement request page.

7. You will then need to upload a copy of the birth certificate and a copy of the parent's passport.

8. Once the attachments have been uploaded, click 'Submit'. Afterwards, you will be directed to the 'Request Certificate' service. If you want English or Arabic copies of the certificate, enter the number of copies you need.

9. After that, you can pick up the birth certificate at a MOHAP Public Health Centre or have it delivered to your home.

10. When you have selected your preferred option for delivery, click 'proceed to payment'.

11. Pay the fees electronically with a debit or credit card on the payment page.

The application will be reviewed by MOHAP after payment is received, and then a new birth certificate will be issued.

Who can receive the replaced Birth Certificate:

1. A parent or authorised person is the only person allowed to collect the certificate, according to the MOHAP website.

2. It is necessary to obtain copies of the original documents if you reside outside of the UAE. A person who holds a power of attorney should also receive the certificate if you are not in the UAE.

3. In case, if you do not have any relatives to receive the replaced certificate, the staff at your home country's consulate can accept it on your behalf, by presenting a letter that indicates that you have assigned this person to receive the certificate on your behalf. It must be stamped by the respective embassy.
