Next month, the UAE will enjoy its second - and longest - holiday on the eve of Eid Al Adha. The first long break of the year was marked by Eid Al Fitr in April.

For the remainder of the year, UAE employees will have three more long breaks to mark Eid Al Adha, Hirji New Year, and the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).

The public and private sectors in the UAE will celebrate Eid Al Adha from the 9th to the 12th of Zul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar, which is based on the lunar calendar.

The Gregorian calendar dates Eid Al Adha from Tuesday, June 27, to Sunday, July 2 (including the weekend). People will enjoy a six-day break during the Festival of Sacrifice.

The next long break will be three days during the Hijri New Year. To mark the new Islamic year, the government announced that Friday, July 21, would be a public holiday. This means employees will have a three-day break, including a two-day weekend.

Fourth and final long break will be on September 29, 2023, in honor of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), giving employees another three-day weekend.

In contrast, UAE National Day - celebrated on December 2 and 3 - will be celebrated over the weekend.
