Visa-free access to 227 travel destinations is compared between 199 passports. According to newly released data, UAE passport holders can access 178 out of 228 countries either without a visa, or with a visa on arrival.
Over the past decade, the country's passport has risen in rankings from the 62nd most powerful passport in the world in 2006 to the 21st most powerful in 2018, and then jumping to the 15th in 2022.
In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region as well as the wider Arab world, it remains strong.
Among the countries that nationals can access without a visa are Saudi Arabia, France, Greece, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. The list also features a range of popular holiday destinations such as the Bahamas, Fiji, Mauritius, Georgia and the Seychelles.
In the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Iran, nationals can obtain a visa on arrival.
Holders of passports issued by Japan, Singapore, and South Korea have access to 193 and 192 countries, respectively.
In the world, the Indian passport ranks 85th, while the Pakistani passport ranks 106th.
