The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has proclaimed the official Eid Al Adha holiday dates for those in public sector roles. As detailed by the Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR), the federal workforce can anticipate Eid Al Adha observances from 9 to 12 Zul Hijjah (1444 AH), as it correlates to the Gregorian calendar.
UAE residents can anticipate a long weekend, spanning five to six days during the Eid Al Adha period. The exact length of the holiday will hinge on the lunar sighting, which dictates the commencement and conclusion of Islamic Hijri calendar months.
Based on the Gregorian calendar, the commemoration of Eid Al Adha, commonly known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is projected to take place from Tuesday, June 27, to Sunday, July 2, encompassing the weekend. As the Islamic calendar observes a lunar system, definitive dates will be confirmed upon sighting of the Zul Hijjah moon in June.
FAHR released the circular in response to the Council of Ministers' decision pertaining to the approved official holiday schedule for both government and private sectors in the UAE for the year 2023.
