On Thursday, the Ministry of Human Resources announced that Monday, January 1, 2024, will be a public holiday for all private sector employees.

Consequently, UAE private sector employees will be able to celebrate the new year over a long weekend.

"All private sector employees in the UAE will be provided with a paid holiday on New Year's Day, 1 January 2024," the authority said in a tweet.

Federal government employees will have a New Year's holiday today, according to an advisory posted on Instagram earlier today. A holiday has been declared by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources on Monday, January 1.

According to last month's Cabinet announcement, UAE residents can expect at least 13 public holidays in 2024. Four of the seven official occasions might translate into extended weekends, with the longest lasting six days.
