On Sunday morning, residents awoke to dense fog, prompted by red and yellow alerts issued by the National Centre of Meteorology cautioning specific weather conditions in various parts of the country. Using a platform like X (formerly Twitter), the authority pinpointed the regions most susceptible to experiencing thick fog and detailed the expected fog patterns. In response to reduced visibility due to the fog, Abu Dhabi Police has implemented lower speed limits on select roads in the capital.
Speed restrictions have been enforced, reducing the maximum speed to 80 km/h on roads like Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan International Road and Sheikha Salama Bint Butti road. According to the NCM, motorists can anticipate foggy conditions until approximately 8:30 am, while the remainder of the day is anticipated to have generally fair weather with occasional partly cloudy periods.
There is a possibility of convective cloud formation later in the day, mainly to the east and south, which may lead to rainfall. Humidity is expected to increase during the night and into Monday morning, potentially resulting in the formation of fog or mist in some western areas.
For those who enjoy weekend activities, there will be light to moderate winds, occasionally gaining strength during the day, providing favorable conditions for outdoor pursuits. The lowest temperature is predicted to drop to 19ºC, with the highest reaching 39ºC in the interior regions of the country.
